Hey guys,

I have a theoretical question. Would this work.... and how. I have a 580EXII... I can get it fire wirelessly fine with pocketwizards. Now, I don't have a third pocketwizard to use with a 430EX. Can I have my 580EXII trigger the 430 with it's infrared power? Or does that only work when the 580EXII is on camera?

Thanks!

It works with PocketWizards.

Note: You'll need to use 1/125 or slower shutter speed to allow time for the command flash and the "real" flash.

Note to those with other radio systems: It does not work with Elinchrom Skyports. I don't know about Cybersyncs.

Not to knowledgeable on the flashes but I know the 580EX II can control other flashes as slave but when the 580 is triggered wirelessly, not sure. You can get an optical trigger and mount the 430 on it so once the 580 fires the 430 will fire off the light produced by the 580. Or you can by another PW.

Edit:

Never mind, question answered.

Curtis, thank you.

Is there any specific I need to set on the 580EXII to make this work other than the normal way I get it to fire the 430 using IR?

I think you just set the 580EX II in master manual mode, the 430EX in slave mode.
