This game is to help those of us who are trying to learn new tricks when it comes to editing.

Here's the breakdown of the game. I will post a picture that I choose, resized to exactly 1024 pixels maximum on the long side. Outside of being resized it has to be unedited...meaning no adjustments to any levels, it has to look like it did as it came out of the camera.

The game will last 72hrs and whoever can produce the best edited image (as judged by me) will be picked and it'll be their turn to post their unedited picture for all of us to take a crack at.

The participants must have their "Image Editing OK" turned on and they must provide at least a simple breakdown of how they edited the image, some entrants are a little vague on this point, please give us all details so we can learn and share tips. For instance if you use the unsharp mask tool or Smart Sharpen, provide us with the adjustments you used so others can try them out.

You can post multiple images, but the first image you post will be the one that is judged - all other images will be considered for knowledge and tip use only.

Also, please keep all comments, be they positive or negative, to yourself until after the game has ended.

If you happen to be the winner of the game please start the next one with the title of the game and the following number. For example…the next game should read "Before & After #207".

This is all about having fun so have at it!!!

This game will end Monday August 3rd at 5:30pm EST

Lots of pen tool to copy sections of brickwork, grass and stones in order to get rid of harsh shadow.
Cloned out aerial.
Straightened building using transform/distort
Levels in LAB mode
High pass filter to sharpen
Used rectangular marquee and feathered 20px/invert/levels to make vignette
Flatten and post

Not something I usually do, but had some time and thought I would give it a try.
leveled with mid at 78
got rid of antennas, light, and shadow
sharpened building
overlay layer at 90% with building and lake at 70%
distorted front of building to make windows match vertical
cropped

Thanks all for playing. I chose this photo due to the challenges...a distracting shadow and lens distortion from shooting 17mm on a 1.3x sensor. There is something to like about each and every entry.

Monty - great work with the pt lens. I will be looking into getting this for next time I shoot this wide. Very natural looking edit.

Fstopmiami - This edit really pops. Very bright colors and lots of contrast. To my eyes, it appears just a little overdone....like an HDR

Lore - Very solid edit. I'm not sure if I like the clouds or the natural gradient sky..either way it looks natural.

Nigel - Thats alot of cloning! I would really like to learn how to get rid of that nasty shadow too. I like the cloning but the horizon and building seem to be battling one another.

Photojesse - Another great clone job. I like the border but the crop doesn't really do it for me.

I wish everyone could win because like I said..theres something in all of them I like. But unfortunately, I need to choose only 1. This round the winner is going to be..........Monty! Even though the shadow is still there, the distortion correction and colors did it for me. Congrats Monty and thankyou all for playing!

Awesome Monty! By the way, did you see Mike's disclaimer in the first post stating: "The Winner will be precluded from participating in the "Where Am I Now?" competition for 6 months? See you around Valentine's Day Sir Monatgue!

//Kidding ;)

Lore - loved the edit. As always you are Loretastic!

Thanks Monty - that's an excellent find, and I've downloaded the demo.

Actually you can't set that yourself, only the Title Fairy can :)
