Was about to go to bed when I heard thunder knocking at my front door... I set up on the front porch to avoid getting wet... and was fortunate enough to come away with this! No PP work yet, as it was right out of the camera... I'll likely get rid of the power lines, and possibly blend in parts of a few other shots i got tonite to light up the buildings a bit... Let me know what you think! As my first decent lightning shot, I'm a little stoked!

Nice shot! The power lines should be easy to remove from this one.

Nice shot! ...lose the power lines, and straighten the horizon line, and it will be a definite wall hanger.

I've got the power lines out, no problem. About the horizon line though... I'm sure it could use straightened a bit, but it really isn't as far off as it looks... those buildings in the back are at an odd angle to the where I was shooting, and the one on the left is taller... giving the appearance that the whole picture is slanted... What would you do in a situation like that? Would you still adjust the whole image to even them out (which could make the trees in front look funny) or would it be best to just adjust the buildings themselves? I see these buildings everyday, and to me, it's normal for them to look slanted like that... I know it throws everyone else off though... What would you guys suggest?

Because the trees are sillouetted, I don't think it would make them look off to straighten the buildings. We can't really tell what angle the trees are at anyway, we just see the tops. All you can do is try it and see.

Also, maybe once you blend the other photos in, it will take the attention away from the slanted buildings. If the lightning wasn't at the far right of the frame, and the buildings on the the far left, It might not have even been that noticable.

I decided on a vertical crop for it... to bring more attention to the lighting itself, and effectively eliminate the problem buildings altogether.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions... It'll be hanging on the wall by the end of the week!
