need help

I shot a wedding yesterday. When I got home the images were just gone. My dh second shot but he is not a professional and a LOT of moments were lost and I am just sick of course. I now realize what happened. I reformatted my card on his camera and used it in mine. I tried to recover them using rescue pro and they are nowhere. Does anyone know in this situation if I have any hope? Is there a magic company I can send it to?

It's freeware and may not be the ultimate in code but worth a try.

Formatting doesn't destroy the data, it only removes the reference to it (this is a simplification). If you used the card after the format, likely you have over-written some if not all of the "lost" picture data. I'm sorry to say that if RescuePro failed to recover them, they may be forever lost

I don't need the images from before formatting. I need the ones I took last night. The images from before the reformat are back! But I think reformatting in one camera and shooting in another model caused this because I have heard of this happening when someone shot with two different cameras. I found this link http://www.clarity.net​/~adam/recoverpix.html It looks kindof complicated but maybe it's worth a try.

Let me see if I can reconstruct the sequence of what happened as this might be crucial to the recovery process...
1. shot some pictures (no longer needed) on own camera
2. formatted memory card in other shooter's camera
3. put formatted card into own camera, shot wedding
4. could not read photos (on PC, or on camera?)
5. tried to use Rescue Pro, now can see old photos (from before reformatting and wedding)

Is this what has happened? If so, unless Rescue Pro or someother utlity can UNDO what Rescue Pro managed to recover (the old photos) the newer photos could be history.

That's pretty much it, except the previous wedding was shot in the other camera, which doesn't really seem relevant.

referring to post 5, item 4...I presume you could chimp the new wedding photos on your camera, but could not read the new wedding photos into your PC (before using rescue pro)? and now you can see the old wedding photos on your PC. What do you now see chimping on the camera?

I could see the images on the camera. When I put the card in the computer they weren't there. I'm trying to remember now if there was nothing there or if the old wedding images were there. I THINK the old images were there.

Now the old images are showing in the camera as well.

I think I should send it to a professional but I''m trying to decide whether to trust someone local or send them somewhere. Tallyns was recommended to me. It's so hard to wait for the weekend to end to get help!

Since the old and new photos are both visible in camera, have you simply tried to do direct transfer via a cable, from camera to PC?

The new photos are no longer visible in camera.
