they are called "sliders" in softball jargon...basically pads the girls can pull up to protect their knees and legs when sliding since they play in shorts. They also double as shin guards so to speak for infielders when blocking hard ground balls.

Fantastic! Love the 'catch' shots. I'm sure that one went straight into her glove. Awesomes shots overall. Liked the intensity of the girl's eyes running the bases. Looks like she's determined to beat out an infield ground ball for a hit!

Great shots.....can I ask? lens used? shot in raw and post processed?

Lens = 300 2.8 I shoot RAW and edit in Lightroom. Then a batch process for all in CS3

Holy snikeys Matt, what a great set! I can't stop going back to each picture over and over and appreciating the color and sharpness. Love the ones with the facial expressions (esp #7). Just goes to show that you don't always have to have the ball in a shot to be good sports photo.
