oh, and watching Ben's blog (he shoots with 2 bodies, one with a 35 and one with a 85):

is part of what got me going. I'd love to simplify my choices down to 2 primes like he does. I know his images are NOT because he uses just 2 lenses, but because he's brilliant, but the idea of just using 2 primes like that really makes sense to me. I did it this weekend with my 24L and sigmalux and had a blast, but I think 24/50 only isn't ideal. I'd be willing to go to just 3 lenses, but 24/50/135 doesn't seem to be the triplet for me...

I think working with a triplet like 24/50/135 or 24/50/85 makes sense - if going for only two I think I would compromise and do 35/85.

On a crop I started with the 100/F2, later got the 135/F2 and love to have both.
Each has got its own use and the difference in field of view feels like head and shoulders to head up to waist.
If I have to leave one at home it would be the 135, it is quite longer especially with hood attached. Cropping a picture taken with the 100 gets my vote against cut-off hands or feet on picture taken with the 135.
Have not got a 85 since I do not consider the gap between 50 and 100 a problem.
A triplet of 24/50/100 makes sense too.

I shoot a lot with a 50/85 combo on two bodies. I like it and I don't find it too close... but I never shoot at 35... it's hardly used. Seems a bit too close to 50. I find 135 a bit too long often, so if I wasn't already in love with my 85 1.8 then I'd probably give a 100 a spin.

The problem with using a 3 lens line up is juggling lenses and cameras. I've seen a guy recently who uses 3 5D's and 24L, 35L and a 85L. That looked far too much trouble for my tastes. I often run with 2 cameras and have a wide and a tele on each. But I also am a really quick lens changer; I can detatch a lens with one hand in about a second, whilst my other hand gets another lens and pops the caps off and onto the body.
