The photo was taken when he was in his early 20's and working on a charter boat owned and operated by Frank Mundus, a personality in the fishing scene and some say that character on whom Quint was based in the movie Jaws. That particular catch allowed him to move out on his own and start his business and livelihood and was invaluable to him. Crissa

That's a pretty bold statement but I can't think of any exceptions. If anyone knows of one please post. I don't trophy hunt, and have no desire to, but will throw food for thought in. If a piece of property or wild area is managed for game and hunting, the game population is managed to keep a healthy population of animals. To do this, without natural predators, a certain number of animals need to be killed each year. If a person, who essentially is acting as a predator, kills an animal and removes it from the ecosystem, whether they hang it on a wall, or eat it makes no difference other than emotional feeling. The animal is dead either way, it's removal was planned and figured into it's ecological effect. How we as people feel about it comes down to emotion. Does consuming the animal make it right? We don't need to eat it, food is plentiful in our society. Wouldn't leaving it to the wild be ecologically better? It would feed scavengers and bugs. If a person pays all the associated monies that go with hunting, funds that help the economy, and in this country go largely to conservation. If they follow the rules to ensure safety and humane practices, and the final outcome , like hunting is in this country, results in overall benefit to the species, the eating of the animal is a mute point. That said, if your not going to eat the game, donate it to the hungry. We have a good program that does that in Maryland. Do whats right HERE

I just see things from different perspectives and thought I would throw that in for us all to go "WTH is Zane saying now?" Everyone I know that hunts or fishes would like to get the biggest. It's just part of hunting, unless you are really hungry and don't have the money for food. I've been there, and under those circumstances, the first thing you get your sights on, you take and are thankful for....... The thing I have a hard time with is the guys who walk around with their thumbs hanging from their belt loops with a chaw of tobacco in their lip and a sneer on their face while telling everyone how cool they are because the just shot the really big one.

People obviously feel differently about hunting/fishing or the big game industry wouldn't be so popular. I just figured that since I'd mentioned before, quite strongly, that hunting sharks (or other animals) for trophies bothered me so much I'd just be afforded the general courtesy that, say some others would be afforded if they mentioned they abhorred dog fighting (and rightly so). .. The guy at best buy said something about the picture looking better with HDMI, so I bought a connector. The D-Sub connector came with the monitor. I was just wondering if HDMI really is better or if I should return that connector. HDMI is better. D-Sub is the same as VGA. It is an analog signal HDMI is DVI with audio and it's a digital signal. If your monitor/TV supports DVI or HDMI use it. THe signal is cleaner and you'll get a better pic. MMMmmm... tacos. CrazieCricket wrote in post #8435518 MMMMmmmMMMM I love fish tacos. My friends and family are the other. ![]() Deer are a special catagory along with rats, mice, squirrels, and rabbits. Since we removed all the predators they have become pests and plain destructive as they have over populated what little wooded areas we have left them and are eating everything in sight. Not sure why, but call me JJ.
