Nah, card models. :D

Doing a card model of a plane which I had volunteered to make sure the parts fit right and take photos of for a guy that is selling the model. :D I got the model for free of course ;)....sweet deal.

Here is the plane in case anyone is interested.

what's a card model? The plane is cool

3Turner wrote in post #8496185 (external link)
It's a model, can be of anything really, that is made out of cardstock....heavy weight paper. Thin cardboard......that can be printed from your home printer. There are several free models out there and even more detailed ones for sale. This particular model is selling for $9 a download.

Thanks...some models are very detailed and have a lot of work put into them....me I have not tried them yet. As a matter of fact, this one is my first try at clear windows done by vacuforming them.

If anyone wants to try some card models....can be done with paper too, but is not as sturdy, here is a website from Canon which has various models in different difficulties....under the Paper Craft section.

There's even a GG-1 locomotive. Looks pretty complicated, though...

Really neat feel-good dog story... (external link)

Zane, I was not going to post anything in response to your post as this is a really personal thing and everyone has a valid view as everyone is emotionally affected either directly or indirectly by these incidents.

In this case, I think that as the man has less than 3 months to live, the fact that we can, and did show compassion demonstrates to him, Libya and the world that we are better people and our values and humanity are greater than those who use violence to further their causes.

I am not disagreeing with you, as there is no right or wrong here, I just see it differently.

I agree about no right or wrong, and I think on paper I agree with you in some ways about the release. It is the rise above, we are better than that, approach. It seems honorable and feels righteous from an academic stand point. I see compassion as giving the killer appropriate medication and care so he doesn't suffer, letting him have family visit. Releasing him to rejoice in his last days, meet with old friends, tend to any unfinished business what ever it may be, feels so wrong on so many levels. Most importantly, his release victimizes all the family and friends all over again, literally thousands of people cried and grieved all over again today while this guy felt relief and joy. There may be someone touched by the compassionate sentiment but I really don't see it changing a culture of hate against us. If anything it makes our western system look weak and without conviction. I can understand why people do the horrible things they do, on both sides of most debates.I forgive this guy in my head, but I don't believe hurting so many innocent people all over again so a few can feel better than a terrorist is right. We should have sent Muammar al-Gaddafi a cruise missile up his rump and been done with it.
Thanks for speaking up, I respect your opinion greatly. You clearly have a lot of life experiences to draw your valuable thoughts from. It is also always nice to hear opinions from around the world. We are brought up in the states to believe we are the only ones on the planet so a little outside influence is not a bad thing.
Thank you EVERYONE for your thoughts and comments.

Lisa you are not an aspiring wedding photographer, or a rookie, you ARE a professional wedding photographer. You are darn good at what you do. Your self motivation and desire to do what is right for the client, not so you look good, but because it is so important and you care, is what sets you above the average shooter.

my favorite HS science teacher used the term all the time to mean just a smidge, a tiny bit. I think it is probably a yiddish term.

I thought everybody new that term.

Corey said I can get the slightly more expensive range with the convection oven. :D

YAY!!!!

Maybe it's just my personal preference (a little darker, more contrasty look), but I do just the opposite. I keep my EC at -1/3 to keep from blowing the highlights and get an exposure I like.

I'm the same way, John.

Thanks John.

I've tried the free models from Fiddlers Green...I want to one day get the CD set...all of the versions of ALL of the planes and balloons.....did you see the size of the B-36 (external link) and B-52 (external link) models? Scroll down a bit to the photos with persons in it.

The small parts of the locomotive will be the most difficult pieces...the ladder and cage for electricity on top.

Great story there John...thanks for linking it.

Thank you EVERYONE for your thoughts and comments.

That would not include me as I have not yet expressed an opinion, here or anywhere. Part of this is my moderator background, and such discussions border on political discussion which, as we all know, is prohibited.

I will confess that I was sorely tempted to log on to Inspiring Photography, which is mostly populated by Scots, and ask, "WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?" I'm proud to report I did not. Instead, I just kept my thoughts largely to myself.

Both our oven and mircowave have are convection. We almost always use convection. It cooks a bit quicker, but much more evenly.

Moderator ways die hard. Now that you weighed in I will thank you and drop it. Thank you *plop*

Because you all were dying to know, soft shell blue crabs dredged in flour and sautéed, corn slathered in butter, salt, pepper, paprika, garlic, and parsley flakes grilled on the Webber.

And that's the beauty of convection ovens...cooking 2 different things at the same time..or three using all 3 shelves if the stuff is thin.
