Zane, I was not going to post anything in response to your post as this is a really personal thing and everyone has a valid view as everyone is emotionally affected either directly or indirectly by these incidents.
In this case, I think that as the man has less than 3 months to live, the fact that we can, and did show compassion demonstrates to him, Libya and the world that we are better people and our values and humanity are greater than those who use violence to further their causes.
I am not disagreeing with you, as there is no right or wrong here, I just see it differently.
I agree about no right or wrong, and I think on paper I agree with you in some ways about the release. It is the rise above, we are better than that, approach. It seems honorable and feels righteous from an academic stand point. I see compassion as giving the killer appropriate medication and care so he doesn't suffer, letting him have family visit. Releasing him to rejoice in his last days, meet with old friends, tend to any unfinished business what ever it may be, feels so wrong on so many levels. Most importantly, his release victimizes all the family and friends all over again, literally thousands of people cried and grieved all over again today while this guy felt relief and joy. There may be someone touched by the compassionate sentiment but I really don't see it changing a culture of hate against us. If anything it makes our western system look weak and without conviction. I can understand why people do the horrible things they do, on both sides of most debates.I forgive this guy in my head, but I don't believe hurting so many innocent people all over again so a few can feel better than a terrorist is right. We should have sent Muammar al-Gaddafi a cruise missile up his rump and been done with it.
Thanks for speaking up, I respect your opinion greatly. You clearly have a lot of life experiences to draw your valuable thoughts from. It is also always nice to hear opinions from around the world. We are brought up in the states to believe we are the only ones on the planet so a little outside influence is not a bad thing.
Thank you EVERYONE for your thoughts and comments.

I'm back to work today....sometimes I get hung up on a shot...I like it every way it's processed

Lisa you are not an aspiring wedding photographer, or a rookie, you ARE a professional wedding photographer. You are darn good at what you do. Your self motivation and desire to do what is right for the client, not so you look good, but because it is so important and you care, is what sets you above the average shooter.

my favorite HS science teacher used the term all the time to mean just a smidge, a tiny bit. I think it is probably a yiddish term.
I thought everybody new that term.
Lovely

Nah, card models.

Doing a card model of a plane which I had volunteered to make sure the parts fit right and take photos of for a guy that is selling the model.

I got the model for free of course

....sweet deal.
Here is the plane in case anyone is interested.
