I get to operate a train and go in a hot air balloon all in one month! Hey, I've been trying to "curb" some of Maggie's enthusiasm during certain activities lately as it seemed to be escalating. For instance, she was barking her head off at dinner time waiting for me to feed her. I was watching Cesar and he made the comment that his dogs have to "work" for their food. So a couple days ago I started making her sit before I picked up her bowl and again before I gave it to her. She kind of protested the first time. But now all I have to do is say her name or hold up a finger and she sits right down. I still have to work on stay, though. ![]() What's funny about her sitting technique is that she is just like a hawk. Her entire behind sits right down really fast - and her head LITERALLY does not move! It's pretty funny to watch. She's doing REALLY well with this. You are having way too much fun. cfpackerfan wrote in post #8530154 That is so cool! I've been doing something similar with Amikah... She gets so excited at play time, totally out of control. I've been making her lay down, and not move till I say ok. I've been lengthening the time, and now we are up to about 4 minutes! She lies perfectly still and just stares at me, waiting. I've gotten to where I can finish reading an E-mail while she waits. But you should see her when I say "Ok". HOLY CRAP. All that energy, bottled up for 4 minutes comes out at once. LOL. It's dangerous. ![]() Good stuff Cat, 'tis the same theory as what Chris is employing. I too always use OK as a prefice to a command they like "OK, go for it" (my command for releasing when at heel), "OK, eat" (obvious), "OK, get in" (the right time to enter the vehicle". OK, come" ( the release for when made to "Stay", and so on. The really perk up when I prefice with "OK", they know something good is coming. Permagrin wrote in post #8530326 speaking of Dan...he's planning a new story arc...I'm so excited about it. Looks like it's going to be as fun as James Bovine. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pNlMgH2p-Y This will be great, I have always enjoyed these movies, lots. cfpackerfan wrote in post #8530479 Oh but mud is FUN! Just ask Amikah. Yes it is. -JIM-

I have had one for a few months now, and keep hitting CTRL instead of SHIFT because of the curvature. I have always typed proper with all my fingers, and not having to look. This hitting of the CTRL key plus another key when meaning to capitalize has at least taught me lots of shortcut commands. -JIM-

She'll have surgery tomorrow sometime, and we'll all go from there. And oddly enough, despite that I was JOKING about it earlier, thank goodness for Life Alert. She had gotten it recently, and it quite literally came in handy. Sorry to hear this Diane. Prayers are being sent. T.D. wrote in post #8530053 I'm looking forward to the weekend. It's time for the balloon festival and my hot air balloon ride on Saturday morning! You are having a most excellent summer with your adventures T.D. Looking forward to seeing your shots as well as everyone else's hot air captures. Bax is put through similar paces as everyone has described. He catches on well to all of them, except heel, he just has to get ahead and explore. Permagrin wrote in post #8530227 I know...I just don't know what to do with him other than teach him tricks. His mind is as busy as his body. You know? You are doing the right thing, Lisa. Just think what Dan would be like if you took away his pencils and paper. They need outlets for their particular energy, running him through his tricks is a good way for him to release his pent up energy. Plus he knows he is pleasing you, and believe it or not, that really is important to him. Permagrin wrote in post #8530326 speaking of Dan...he's planning a new story arc...I'm so excited about it.
