Jim, where did you get your spare battery for the 5DII?

I bought 2 of them off of a Hong Kong eBay seller. Good price, plus they were not available anywhere else at the time. I have never really needed the 3rd one, but bought it for extended outings. Probably if I did more video, it would burn through them quicker.

Will they charge in the canon charger or are they ones that need their own? And does the battery meter (I love that thing) read them?

Ben & Jerry's Karamel Sutra is tasting good right now. :D

Like a female cat named Wall-e? Maybe we should change her name to Wall-i...

Cool! I've always like the Sons of the Pioneers.

My brothers and families live within a 5 minute drive, mom though is an hour away. It would feel weird to move away. Lisa, on the other hand, has family spread about.

We would dearly love to get out of San Diego. There is nothing holding me here. My closest living relative is my brother who lives 22 miles east of us and with whom I have absolutely no relationship. My next relative is my uncle who lives in Boston and a number of cousins scattered who know where across the East.

Heather's parents live in Arizona, her brother is in China and her sister lives in Idaho. She has an aunt and cousins here, but that's not a real hold on her. The biggest thing is her finding a job somewhere else and the fact we are kinda tied to this property.

That's nice, Chief.

Okay. We have that out of the way.

I was hungry for Sloppy Joe's tonight. I found an interesting recipe on the web, and had a few of the ingredients, but not all. I improvised, and came up with something really delicious (I don't mind saying so).

Lois wants me to write down what I did so I can make it again.

Good luck. I tend to cook with a 'little of this,' and a 'little of that.'

All I know is, after I ate it, I was perspiring heavily, and that's a good sign.

You will now be returned to your normal programming.

Sounds Yum, Chief!

short5 wrote in post #8407460 (external link)
Yum. I bought tortellini, jar sauce, and a couple potatoes. I browned and added left over burger from last night to the sauce. Baked the taters for a side and topped the pasta with Romano cheese I had. It was quick and EASY.

Also sounds yum!

we just take her out every hour  she's a dork but she's our lil dork.

Honestly, Kona was in high dudgeon earlier and so Hale was in by herself. She was contentedly playing with the toys and not doing anything bad...just being cute. For a LONG time. Seriously, she would have been a perfect puppy for people who've never had dogs before. She's practically angelic. Not bright but sweet.

Could be my tag line

She is doing much, much better. Tomorrow she sees her doctor again, and is hoping to get rid of the walker and just use a cane, or something. On the weekend she was moving around quite good, and is putting a fair bit of weight on her leg, though is cautious of overdoing it. She can be quite determined and I expect will fully recover in a couple months. It has been a tough go for her, but she is quite the champion, I think. :D

I read again the other day that dogs are really a reflection of their owners. It was in a dog article. Said "mean people have mean dogs" etc.

But I wonder how far that goes. (I'm being serious here.) Can Kona being a nutcase be a reflection on us? Or Hale's um...lack of comprehension? Maggie is never quiet but Chris definitely can be quiet. Jasper...well he is sort of like Jim but I've never known Terri to rob a store like her pup did. I don't know Amikah well enough to compare her to her parents....

I think to a large extent that mean people will reflect in mean dogs more quickly than other traits....they've got to learn to stick up for themselves a little bit more quickly, make sense? IDK, maybe I'm just rambling.

Permagrin wrote in post #8404526 (external link)
okay, fwiw, I realize what I like is just that...something I like. And everyone else the same. But...I HAVE to say...while I could never get the hang of a small tablet and had to literally be forced to use a big one, it has cut my processing time down at least 50%. It's so accurate & easy. One of the best workflow tools I've purchased (or rather, Dan's purchased for me).

Cool! I'm digging the smaller one so far, but who knows, maybe someday I'll upgrade.

GOOD NEWS ALERT!!

So my reclassification has apparently gone through. Now I'm just waiting on my "offer letter" to arrive at my house. I then have to sign or accept and all the paperwork will be updated internally. I say paperwork but really they'll just update SAP. I will NOT be taking a pay cut as I had thought or been informed. I will in fact be getting a $.06 raise. lol On the official records though it looks like I'm getting an 8.6% raise. The reason why it looks that way when I'm really only getting 6 cents is a long story not worth telling. The point is that i wont be reduced!!!

YAY!

DeeT, nasty stuff, keeps skeeters off, period. Permethrin is a substance you can put on your clothes, or buy already impregnated clothes from hunting places. It lasts through washings. I hate the chemicals. I generally wear loose long sleeve clothes even if hot. In places like the glades or Belize I coat a Vietnam style hat in deet.
