Newbie here.
Are there any How To Guides for learning how to make templates in Photoshop or Elements?
I have CS4 and Elements 7.
Sports is preferred, but will accept any help.
Thanks in advance.

First, please use the search feature. This has been discussed numerous times. Second, take a look here.

2leads:
Quick to judge aren't we?
1. I did do a search and came up short.
2. The link for numerous discussions is a dead link.
3. The other link you provided is to buy a template.
I dont want to buy templates.
I want to learn to make them.

Zinc:
It is a template with layers relating to a sport where I can put an image of the player, backgrounds of the sport, other images and text.

Nope, I'm not quick to judge. It's funny how 1 search yielded 10+ results in one page, which isn't a dead link.

Now, onto the topic at hand. I don't do as many sports templates as some on here, but have done quite a few templates for portraits. What is your experience w/ PS? There's one word to remember when making templates....LAYERS! Create a new layer for everything. Look at the work of BaumannPhotography. He has done some great work. The link I provided to his page wasn't really for you to buy them, but to give you some ideas.

I came across these threads:

Some nice info in some of them, but no idea if it is what the OP is looking for...

My apologies to the OP, then. It was still active on my computer. My mistake.

Take the time to learn layers.
If you want to learn quicker buy a template, it will be well worth the money.
I learned using the Baumann Photography templates.
Artwork will be the longest learning curve.

I will second this. I looked for tuts as well the first time. But I finally bought one and I learned faster by buying one and seeing what a "final" template looks like opened in PS. Than trying to put one togather in a tutorial. After that it was all hand made ones.

carshop,
Not a bad design. Need to work on extracting the images though so you get crisper photos.
