That's right. I have been diagnosed with Gear Aquisition Syndrome!

In the past 4 months I have purchased the following:

50D with Grip and extra battery
70-200mm L f2.8 IS
32x40" Foldable softbox
10x36" Foldable stripbox
Alien Bees B1600
20° 40° Honeycomb grids

This is more equipment than I have purchased in the last 4 years! Do I need an intervention?!

I'm afraid that there are many here that have walked in your shoes.
You couldn't find a room big enough for group intervention.:(

Geez...what kind of work do you not do? Maybe working my fingers to the bone is being counterproductive for me! :)

I have the disease, just can't afford the medication. I need some new lenses so bad I can taste it.

Group intervention is completely worthless. THERE IS NO CURE!!!

Group intervention only accelerates the progress of the disease as different strains mix and produce resistant hybrids. The body's defenses quickly succumb to the realization that, no matter how much you have, there is always something more to catch, and moreover, someone else who is at a more advanced stage.

There is a cure, which is to let the disease run its course, at which point one will have a veritable plethora of expensive equipment and no money--the latter part being not unlike an actual trip to the doctor.

Much has been said of this curious phenomenon, which at various times throughout human history, has been used with various success to try to sell everything from lava lamps to Pokemon cards.

My wife and I both take $200 a month for our own personal spending (unneeded clothes, fast food, hobbies, whatever) most of the time I save up mine and it goes towards camera gear. If I could afford a 5dmkII, 24-70, 70-200 f/2.8 IS a couple primes and some lighting gear i would buy it and not feel bad!!

Sony A6000, 16-50PZ, 55-210, 35mm 1.8 OSS
Canon 60D, 30D
Tamron 28-75 2.8, Tamron 17-35, Sigma 50mm 1.4, Canon 85mm 1.8

to tell the truth I only buy what I need... I am down to only 2 lenses, having sold everything else. I am selling my 580EX IIs (interested?) and purchasing a Ranger. I will sell my 5D at some point towards a 5D II... I am trying to run a business and expenses are pretty high. I must say, that there's nothing better when things are paying for themselves. It's like playing with toys and get money to get more newer toys... heaven... Unfortunately I am not completely there... but if there's a goal to reach - I am up for the challenge.
What I don't understand is that people getting lenses and "better" cameras while their skills are pretty much stay on the same level for years. It makes me sad because purchasing for the sake of purchasing is a disease.
In my case for example I do really need only two lenses, that being 24-70 and a 100mm macro... both are for portraiture. What i really need is some more lighting and a new computer.

In the last 6 months I have purchased 1 camera body, 1 grip, 1 battery and 1 lens. I never developed GAS, *shrug*. But I see GAS here often.

One body and 9 lenses in a year and a half. I thought I was cured! I then bought a 5DmkII one year later. It has to stop!! :(:(:(:(:)

Too much stuff, not enough shooting time.

Canon T4i (2 lenses), Fuji X100s, Olympus OM-D EM-1 (3 lenses)
