I like the no people one myself. Did you bracket some shots, or was that it...? I always bracket shots like that, that way you get a bit of variety to choose which looks best. Nice shot though...:D

yea, the horizon does have a tilt.

and im not sure what you mean by bracket, but i did take the picture at various times during the sunset, and at various exposures, and out of about 15 this was the best one.

it sounds like you accomplished what he meant.

however, i seem to see a lot of symmetry between the ocean and the sky. you may want to create an imbalance by picking which is more dramatic to you....the sky or the ocean/foreground. with nothing compelling in the foreground, i would probably pick the sky, myself.

in other words, compose/crop so that the horizon isnt as centered across the shot. this particular imbalance allows one feature to dominate the other.....creating interest as the eye meanders through the rest of the shot.

Straightening...lol. Every time I straighten the horizon, I hang the picture crooked.

Nice shot. Brings back memories of when I was stationed there in the USAF. The skyline didn't quite look like that then. Just the pier and some two story structures. Beautiful, white sandy beaches haven't changed though.
