I wasn't sure where to put this...

So my great aunt passed and the family had gathered a whole box full of pictures of her they wanted to put them on a tv screen at the funeral. being the techy in the family they wanted me to basically scan and burn them to a disc. after scanning and looking at them on my laptop, i immediatly whipped out my little friend: LR. now these were all OLD film and not taken care of well so they were real poor quality, im talking terrible noise, exposure and composition and wb and contrast and just by all photography means BAD. so it was just like back in my first class of photo editing where you try and 'fix' poorly scanned pics. except it was weird because it was all of her and shes dead now so that was weird. anywho i then exported it all to a dvd and tested it at the funeral home's dvd player and it worked and was used the next couple days at the funeral. the family really liked the pictures, not because of the quality [to their knowing] but because it helped them remember the good times (she had been sick for years). had I used the originals, and not edited anything, they wouldn't even have recognized the family members in the pictures at the funeral. So I'm glad I was able to help in this 'behind the scenes roll', even though most nobody knew of my process, everyone liked the pictures.

just goes to show you never know when you'll be glad you learned something (anything)

just thought ide share..

No good deed goes unrewarded. I've done the same thing and I know how you feel. I was brought a very small picture of the brother of a friend that had passed away and ask if I could make it poster size for the viewing. Took a lot of work just to get something presentable but I know how much it meant to the family.
