Where does one go to read up and understand paper choices?

I have a Canon Pixma Pro9000...I have been happy with it but would like to explore paper options.

I don't do enough printing to understand the diffrent paper's and there qualitys and attributes.

There are sampler packs, but truth be told I wouldn't even understand how to evaluate the result's.....What paper is good for what and what to look for. Heck I don't even know what qualitys I want out of paper.

I have used a couple diffrent kinds of paper...Canon Glossy, Cheap Store brand, Ilford Gallerie (I like there pearl finish, it's the only one I have tried, because it's so often talked about)

I need to print some 13x19 mostly landscapes and need to order some paper. But what kind of paper??? And from who???

What do you use and like...Why?

Any resource's to help choose ( I know it's not a life altering decision, But I want my stuff to look nice as it can)

Printing paper selection is a highly subjective process. It's all about esthetics and taste. What you like might be completely differen from what appeals to me. Also, just as with discussing wines, for example, using words rather than actual tasting, similarly one can only describe the way a paper looks and feels. To really take the measure of a paper one has to actually print with it oneself.

Red River papers for me. My favorite is Arctic Polar Luster. You can download profiles for this paper and your printer from the RR web site.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

I realize it's subjective....But my wife would flip if I bought a sampler box of every Manufacturer! Let's face it paper get's expensive in a hurry! Even the sampler packs!

But you could always share with me what you have settled on and why...(thanks for the link)

Red River Arctic Polar Luster is one that I often see recomended, Maybe I will give a box of that a go this time.

I do like the Ilford Gallerie Smooth Pearl the best of the ones I have tried so far, But is contentment based in ignorance of what's available a reason to not explore the alternatives?

I promised to be faithful to my wife...I have no such promises to photo paper manufacturers!

I switched from IGSP to RRAPL. The RR paper is brighter, the weights are about the same.

Anybody have any expierence with Ilford Gold...

It's nearly twice the price of Red River arctic polar

$109 for 50 sheets of 13x19 (choke, cough, gasp) $2.20 a sheet....Ouch! Guess I can quite complaining about ink cartridge prices now.

I'm kinda down to choosing between these two...But kinda tough to compare them as they seem to be of diffrent catagory's.
