Canon 50 1.8 II

I got a brand new 50 1.8 from B & H in '07 for $75, but foolishly sold it last year. Now when I look to get a new one, it's going for $115 at B & H...WTH.

I know this is a very good lens, but that much of price hike for a plastic lens...c'mon Canon, you can do better.

Can get it on Amazon for around $100, and used for around $70-$85. I know it's not as cheap as it used to be but still not to bad.

check roberts, last time I saw price was around $83 brand new and they are authorized dealer.

Btw, the price are raised for all lenses partially due to the Yen doing much better against the Greenback today.

$85.00 is a pretty good price!

$85 at Roberts with a somewhat pricey $18 ground shipping charge..........kind of kills the 'good deal'.

It was free shipping over $100 untell last fri, now it's free shipping on an order over 300, still that price isn't to bad, the shop by me is selling the lens for $129. And people online are getting 85-100 for a used one.

It's not a bad deal - agreed. Not a smokin' deal - a decent one.

Adorama has Canon refurbished 50 f/1.8 Mark II lenses for $80 and free shipping. Seems like a good deal if you want one.

It's still very much worth it for around $100. I'd just swallow the extra $$$$ and go for it.

Is it worth 15 bucks to go with a refurbished one? Always looking to save a buck or two, in this case 15, shipping with the lens at Roberts came to $95ish for my location I think. What should I do

The new warranty is easily worth $15.

I think it's probably worth $125 or so to buy a used 50mm f/1.8 Mark I instead of the Mark II, since the Mark I has a usable focus ring, distance scale, and is less likely to fall apart due its much better build quality. Some will argue that the Mark II focuses faster than the Mark I, but I don't know if that's true or how noticeable that is.
