Nice shot. Do you do any post-processing at all?

Yes.. some, but I am not very good at it.

On this one, I used DPP to increase the contrast and sharpness, and darken the shadows.
I used an old version of ACDSee photo editor to crop and resize (really just to post it here).

Photoshop and/or LR are on my list. I am having a hard time prioritizing the list though. Also on the list is: 580EXII flash and Canon STE2 Speedlite Transmitter and two more lenses: 70-200 and 100-400

Are you shooting in RAW? And Photoshop w/ Camera Raw Plugin should be your first priority. With raw you much more latitude and workability that jpegs.

Yes.. Since getting the 50D, I have been impressed with what I have seen using raw and DPP. I suspect that you are right about the priorities... software just isn't as gratifying as hardware. ;)

Actually, the software was at the top of my list until a friend asked me to take some pictures of their newborn. I though that by getting a second flash and the STE2 transmitter (plus home made diffusers (external link)) .. I could get pretty good lighting for an indoor shot.

Trust me, I would wait on buying more gear and would go with Photoshop CS4. DPP is ok, but PS is a lot more powerfull. And with the CR plugin, you have much more options to work the image.
