Welcome to POTN, Mr. Chan.

If you want "light" comments, I'll make two:
- nice shots
- got to be the smallest waffle I've ever seen!

Perhaps tweak them to adjust white balance as it appears to be changing from image to image?

Yes on the WB. I like #3 best, would like to see it with WB corrected.

They seem to be missing "pop." A little dark? Needs a little more contrast? Don't know, experiment.

One other comment that is as much marketing as photography. What is the purpose of the pics? A menu? Flyer? Advertisement? If so, you (your friend) might want to reconsider the concept altogether.

The squiggly designs are nice, artsy and all, but if I was looking at an advertisement or a menu and I saw a desert that had a pic of one tiny waffle the size of a strawberry I wouldn't waste my time. The entire desert would be gone in one tablespoon-full.

If your friend serves the desserts with a plate full of tiny waffles, then show that. Make the photography not only good technically, but good in the sense it communicates a good value.

Because if I spend five bucks for a desert, I expect more than a single bite... artsy-fartsy chocolate drizzle designs or not.

Hi,

- set a manual white balance and use it across the whole set

- not sure of the look you were going for but I think a smaller aperture for greater DOF might help

- they look a little soft in some cases, not sure if this is the downsizing or perhaps needing a little more sharpening applied

- #1 has something in the top right of the image that would perhaps be better cloned out

- #1 also loses definition between the plate and table...you seem to have fairly long exposure times so I guess you're using ambient and maybe some flash would provide better images

As far as food photography goes, I know nothing but the above is what occurs to me. I hope at least some of it is food for thought :-)
