I have lived in Northeastern Ohio my entire life. It was not until I got my camera, and started trying to be a little more serious on taking pictures that I realized that we have a problem in this area.... the lake (Lake Erie) is closed after sunset (or 11pm in some cases). Lighting pictures out over the large wide open area can be tough without getting yelled at or someone threatening to charge you with trespassing in a public park.
I want to play by the rules, so if a park says closed at sunset, then I will not go in, but it turns out they are all closed. I have been staking out locations to shoot a meteor shower, and have only found 1 place (which will be o.k., talked to the police and they recommended it, PM me if you want to know were).
I have been to the ocean several times, in many areas along the east coast,l and I through most of them were open 24 hours. I have taken many moonlit walks along the beach without a problem, but Lake Erie rolls up the sidewalks at night.
This is just a rant, if I am missing anything, or if someone has a good photo spot (legal) then let me know.
On a side note, I have found that lighting from behind the defunct Walmart in City View Center has potential to be a great spot... but the rain has not cooperated since I discovered the location.
