Great shot. Lovely blues. I tried your method on a surfing shot, and it does seem to improve things. Thanks.

Lovely composition and colour. I'm not sure yet whether or not I like the effect on the water. It "looks" nice, but it's a tad unnatural for me.

The colour is due to the light and the exposure time. But fair commment :)

Awesome; I love long exposures of water. What filters did you use that allowed that exposure time?

No filter on this shot. It was quite dark when I took the shot, not quite pitch black, just a tiny amount of light around.

Because I shot at f13 and ISO100 with such low light I could use such a long shutter speed.

Thanks for the comments.

Thanks for the comments.

I got a little tip of Brent Pearson (external link) (wicked blog ;)) about adding detail in water, also works for other area's too. This is his VIDEO (external link).

Basically you do this:

1. Copy your background layer in PS.

2. Convert this layer to B&W, I use the Channel Mixer.

3. Now change this B&W layer to either Overlay or Soft light, whichever get you the best results.

4. Change the opacity to suite.

5. Mask out the area's you do not want to change.

6. Flatten ;)

bw!
Great work! Thanks a bunch for the instructions!
