i have a lens that i use with my 40d and when i put it on that camera it acts like a fisheye, the picture you take with it is in a circle with the outside corners all blacked out

runninmann what the heck do I know? Its image circle is not large enough to fill the sensor of your Mark II.

Since the OP was able to mount it on the Mk II, I'm betting it wasn't a Canon EF-S lens, but a 3rd party.
