...resist. I purchased the last EF200L 2.0 IS Calumet NYC had in stock and it will arrive tomorrow evening when my son returns from NYC.

Now, you must admit I trust my son.

Bye 135L, Bye 70-200L IS, Bye 35-350L.

I could use some feedback on 1.4XII and 2XII IQ, please.

Congrats. You are getting one heck of a lens.

But I am with Nicksan. I'm surprised you bought it form a NY store. The taxes on it will run you several hundred dollars almost eliminating your rebate. Why didn't you buy it out of state?

I ordered one on Tuesday; have it now. Unfortunately, my company announced it is downsizing, one hour later. I figure I can still hang on to it, but if not, I'll get enough use out of it until January, that it will be cheaper than renting it.

I hear ya... 8.875%

What's worse is that the clothing tax was repealed so goodbye to 4.375%

What I'll have to start doing is shipping to jersey and using either my friend's or relative's address.

Each State has their own amount of tax/GST, eg. Hawaii is 4.17%, California 7.25%, etc. If you buy something within your State you get charged your States sales tax. If you buy it from out of your State then you pay nothing for tax. So if I buy a $1,000.00 lens in my State I pay $1041.70. If I buy the same Lens from New York I pay $1,000.00 plus shipping if there is any. In Australia, you guys pay 10% GST on everything but it's already included in the price of the things you buy. I owned a business in Sydney Australia and we just added the 10% GST onto the item we were selling. So if I was selling a lens for a $1,000.00 I would add on the 10% GST and the price would be $1,100.00. That is why you don't see the GST, but it is still there.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

In nearly all states you are legally obligate to pay sales tax on out-of-state purchases.
Generally this only applies if the annual total is over a certain value, then you have to
file it with the rest of your taxes.

I own a business, and I have to collect sales tax for every purchase, and submit that tax to the state once a month.

If they want to collect sales tax, the burden should be on the retailer, not on the purchaser. In fact, there was an attempt to do just that with Amazon affiliates, so Amazon just closed down the affiliate program in states who were attempting to require them to collect the tax.

Yeah, and when the government takes a chunk of my paycheck twice a month, they get an interest-free loan until I file my return because I've already claimed the maximum number of exemptions on my W-4. And it is NOT a small amount of money.

The fact of the matter is that the tax system has always been biased against middle- and lower-income citizens. The richest class know how to dodge taxes by playing the loophole game (and politicians, very often being members of this class themselves, are reluctant to close them). The same thing is true of corporate taxes.

Yeah, Hawaii was a big one, but luckily the bill was overturned

holy crap!!!

back on subject, it takes the TC's really well. This is why I opted for the 200 instead of the 300 2.8

look at this comparison with the 300 f4. At f4 the 200 + TC is sharper in the center than the 300 f4.

almost same IQ with the 300 2.8 . and stop it down to f4 it's identical.
