Nice. I bet they're hard to get right. Gorgeous light in that last one.
Thanks, panning technique is the most important thing to get right....I still have a ways to go before I am truly happy but for the mo I am content. That last was taken as we got there (well we had to get the climb outr of the way) so about 9ish.
Great series. I guess this is a regular training run for the RAF. Where in Wales is it as I might drive across.
This is one of the designated low fly areas (LFA7 in particular) and the area known as the mach loop. It basically incorperates a series of valleys that our american pilots call the 'roundabout' while the RAF the 'loop.' These were all taken at Cad west and thats probably the best starting place (though its much better in the afternoon due to the sun), its not far from Bala or Dollgellau (sp?), if your coming from Bala head down the A494 towards Dollgellau about 18 miles form Bala you should hit the B4416 to Brithdir on your left take that and follow the road all the way to come out on the A470, turn left and head down a few miles to the 'cross foxes inn' and turn onto the A487 after a few miles you`ll see a steep valley that the road goes into and a large layby on your right park up and start the ascent (there`s a stile over the fence at the back of the layby) it can be tricky but there is a path just visible that heads up to the right once past the initial first few feet.....follow that and you`ll come to a more well beaten track get on that and continue right to a fence and then turn up and follow the fence (thats the fun part that allmost kills you
) there`s normally allways someone up there now provided the weather is good (so long as the clouds arn`t stupidly low or there is no torrential rain the jets should be out.....though there is a small possibility there will be nothing there that day..............but when there is boy is it worth it.
It would be worth the trip for just one of those shots!
It is a fantastic place and there is normally a few up there (anything from 5 to 20-30) and all willing to help.
I'll check the airlines....
Thanks for sharinmg them. We have family (Bowdens) that came from there...
Lynn
We had a few Americans over for RIAT who decided to take the trip up the week before the show.......they were pretty ecstatic when the eagles came through and did 9 passes, they couldn`t stop grinning for a good few hours. If your over for any reason I can recomend it.
Cracking shots m8!
Tornado one is my fav, hope you've printed that real large & hung it on the wall?
Shelton.
Thanks Shelton I had been meaning to get several of my shots printed to A3 (99p from DSCL
) but havn`t yet got round to it........some day soon me thinks.
Thanks very much, it wouldn`t be half as good if the pilots didn`t want their shots taken
.
Great set Mark.
Tonka for me too. May get up to Cad West this Sept, Bwlch seems quite good at the moment though. Was that last shot Bala??
Dean

Thanks Dean the lake is Tal-y-llyn shot from up cad west the weather hawk had just passed by so I thought i`d get the lake while nothing was happening, there were a few on Bwlch and some on Corris too if IIRC though the Corris lot came up cad in the afternoon. Just a heads up in case you have the time there are rumors of B-1s practicing low level in scotland in the middle of sept having come over to Mildenhall.....that would be a sight
