The metric system is fine. It's the damned innumerate idiots who can't do simple conversions that are the problem. Very basic algebra.

Just like the Hubble. The main mirror was ground by the same people who make mirrors for cars. You know, those "objects are closer than they appear" mirrors.

And they were surprised when it had problems!

You know I've noticed my side mirrors have significantly higher resolution than my rear view mirror, so I resent this comment against my beloved side view mirror grinders.

And just in case the "objects are closer than they appear" comment was supposed to be evidence toward predetermined failure (I'm guessing it wasn't, but hey, covering all bases), those mirrors are made that way on purpose.

What's more fun than math?????

:p

Almost nothing you can do with your clothes on.

Why is a lunch waitress at Schraft's like a geek with a new computer?

Pie (pi) to a thousand places.

And always remember: Pi are square. Cake are round.

They're probably cleaner.

True. But not what you want in a telescope.

I was told once by some drunk guy on the street "I know everything about photography!".

Must have been a brilliant drunk.

Oh, wait! That's just his nose glowing.

I was just recently told by someone who saw my 40D that with such a big camera it must have lots of zoom.

A young friend of mine is just getting into photography and she proceeds to tell me that my particular model of Canon "sucks" because her 17 year old friend professional photog says so.

Oh...and could she borrow my "sucky" camera/lenses/flash so she could shoot a friend's wedding.
I asked if she could afford to replace my sucky camera if it was dropped.
She said "no", so did I.

Then she says, "Please, I know everything about photography, I took classes on it and I'll be careful....oh and how do you get the person all sharp and the background all blurry?"

[/faceplam]
Could someone please find my eyeballs? I think they fell under the couch when I rolled them.

Now, I am not a photog snob, Im ready and willing to learn and teach, but sometimes 18 year old kids make ya wanna slap em. lol

Accessoire, you really should let her in on the whole "person sharp and background blurry" thing, we all know the secret is asking the person nicely to become sharp, and then running quickly into the background and blurring it manually with our hands and feet. True it's a lot of work but her 17 yr. old friend should know that it's well worth it.
Also you could just go into balancing your strobe temp. to ambient 3300K while letting the ambient drop by 1 2/3 stops, and watch her head explode.

haha yeah

If someone was being like that I'd say 'what you have to do is take a picture in focus, then take it again but put the lens on manual focus and make it blury, then take both photo's in photoshop and cut out the person from the sharp image and paste it on the blurry one.... that's why only the pros get the effect!'

Then she'll try and fail, and you say... 'actually i was only kidding, you need a lens with a large aperture and good delineation'...she gets a new lens and says 'hey look I got a lens that is F32, that's way bigger than those rip-off F1.2 lens's right?' then she'll go 'forget it i'll use the method you showed me before'

Now that's just mean!

But then, she deserves it.
