Hope you had the "right" answer for the occasion, Allen:)!

:lol::lol:

It depends on how much single malt one has that will determine the answer...

I've been into photography for a few months, and was wondering why I wasn't getting any of these comments. (not that I really wanted them ...) This week is a break from school, so I bussed across the border to visit a friend. I was explaining to one lady on the bus about the photojournalism program I'm taking, and she asked me how I "archived" all my photos. I was wondering why she put it this way, but it wasn't until a couple minutes later when she mentioned "film" when I understood ... my program hasn't been teaching film for 10 years :confused: She then asked me for an "SLR-101" (this was at 2 in the morning) Umm, where do you start?? Do you guys get that??

A day later, a couple newfound friends were looking at my pictures, saying that my camera "took good pictures" (oldest one in the book, I know), but I wondered how people really think it's that easy! Sheesh ... sigh. Sorry to BUMP, /end rant :oops:

I think sometimes when people say, the camera takes good pictures, they may mean that IQ is high, they are not necessarily speaking about composition.

They all think it's that easy until they pick one up and they can't take a decent picture to save their lives. They usually do one or more of the following:

1. They wonder why they can't see the picture on the LCD
2. Ask you how to zoom the lens (by asking for the zoom button)
3. Grind your focus ring on a non-USM lens :(
4. Take a picture in manual mode, wondering why it came out completely dark
5. Sell their rebel and buy a 5D-II, and a bunch of L lenses, take a bunch of "ok" pictures, and then try to recover their investment prices by going "pro."

It's amazing how resistant some people are to learning how to take a good photo.

I was shooting with my Canon AE-1 Program film camera and a friend started asking me about it...I explained the whole film thing to her, that it's nearly 30 years old, etc...really went in depth about it 'cuz I'm a nerd like that...at the end she only had one question...."uhh...so how many megapixels is it?"

Someone I know bought himself a 16-35mm f/2.8, thinking the 50mm f/1.4 costs too much. [IMG]http://t3.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn (external link):x5z7KrF6w01PgM:http://i199.photobucket.com …Falkan04/emot-psyduck.gif (external link)

Okay, THAT I don't get...how does that happen? I mean is he THAT simple that he doesn't get that 2,000 is more than 500?

Yeah, he had a 17-40L before this, thinking the higher quality L glass would make ambient light shots work well in dark restaurants.

He does have 50mm f/1.8, maybe he means costs too much for the marginal improvement but I don't think so.
