So I'm watching George Stephanaphooulousus on TV and I glance out the back window and there's a roadrunner in the back yard. I grab the 50D with the 55 - 250 mm on it, intending to tip-toe out into the yard and get a long shot. Turns out the bird is fascinated by the sound of the shutter and walks right up to me, tilting his head back and forth as I shoot!

Nice captures. These guy's are plenty fast. I knew someone living in Oklahoma that would chase them for exercise... LOL!

I took these shots with my ACME camera. No coyotes around, but he did take off when my dogs came out!

Heh, I was threading my belt through the camera bag for a bike ride, when my Acme camera fell out and landed on my foot. It felt like their old anvil would, but was just as durable. It still works.

Gotta be more careful now. Great shots!

Great shots!

Thanks, and I love your bird galleries. I keep the long lens on the camera because we have lots of redtailed hawks in the area. I had seen this roadrunner around the yard on and off for some weeks, but I had no idea he'd be so tolerant of a human. I'm hoping he'll come back for more.

Here's another from that encounter that turned out pretty decent. You can see that characteristic bit of blue-to-red coloring behind the eyes that every roadrunner has - except for the one in the cartoon!

Hollywood may well have made a joke out of the roadrunner in a cartoon - and its a brilliant one - but none the less, that bird is quite a stunning looking creature. Fabulous colours, especially around the head
