I went out Sunday to warm up for the cruise week & I'm going to look for a few better backgrounds this year. Just as the light was looking pretty good, a thunderstorm moved in & darkened everything considerably. The cars at the Shell station scattered as if they were water soluble.

All were shot at 1/30 sec, & the EXIF is in the images.

This is the Shell Station at 13-1/2 mile (Normandy) & Woodward. The owner has let the car guys hang out there for decades.

The Shell station looks like a great photo op if it's a hang out, and I can understand them clearing out. It takes a lot of hours to clean under the hood after getting it wet with road spray, plus maybe some don't have tread (slicks on the rear) so water's a real issue for them. Some very nice low light shots. I'm looking forward to the Dream Cruise shots you'll be posting. Larry.

This one looks so familiar to me. You didnt happen to catch the owners name did you? I think I used to know him. The guy I am thinking of is named Baldwin. He owns a electrical contracting company out of Coloma.

Thanks, Marie! I shot another one for you tonight. I might get it up late tomorrow.

Larry, you're right, getting caught on slicks when a shower came in the race was a lot of "fun". I spun about 5 times in 7 laps once. And one night, I saw a guy spin entering I-75 at about 60mph. The dufus got on it a bit too hard.
Still, you'll never catch me spending 2 hours drying off the bottom of a car. :D

You didn't happen to catch the owners name did you?

Sorry, I think I've seen that car before but I haven't shot it, so I don't know his name. Maybe I'll run into him again this week.

but take some day time shots too!

Patience, Rad! I'll be posting a T-Bird tomorrow, & maybe later I'll get up some sorta daylight shots, too.

Thanks for the comments, everyone!

That's why everyone is out there, & will be out there for the rest of the week? ;)

Mark, I saw the car again last night, & someone who knew him said that his name wasn't Baldwin.
