I spent a fair amount of time all over the desert many years ago and as Roy says there are many places that have the same look and feel. I have no idea exactly where it is but here is my analysis.

1. The general vegatation indicate moderate elevation with some seasonal rain....

2. Only a few scattered smaller saguro cactus..

3. Hard rock fromations.

4. The upper flag is US and the lower is Arizona

It is dfinitely Arizona because of the flag and because of the cactus. The saguro cactus is only found in Arizona and northern Mexico. (OK, Maybe a VERY, VERY few in Nevada and California)

The relative sparcity of smaller saguro cactus indicates that it is at he edge of the cactus range.

The Harder rocks and moderarate chapparral eliminates many areas.

My GUESS is that Roy's hunch is not far off

OR ???

BTW I am a Newbie and I hope this kind of open comment is permitted

Of course, I had arrived at the same conclusions, using similar investigative techniques.........;)

Welcome to WAIN, Narwhal

Yes, sorry, Jim - forgot to welcome you - but it is early Monday morning here... :)

You got it, Ken! As you can see in the photo (judging the car models) it was a while ago since I was there last. The place is called "Superstition Saloon" and is the general store in Tortilla Flat - AZ.

Over to you!

Thanks Henk...I'll be out there in the next few months for work, so I'll try and get you an updated photo :)

In the meantime...WAIN?

Commonly, I'll say no...but I suppose it could be argued the other way

And now the next bridge to cross it to find out where this general (and his wife) are heading ... :) Berman.

Now Henk...let's not give too much away...especially since it's neither a general nor his wife ;)
