Now you are there!
Pelourinho is the name of the historic old city and the church in the background is Santa Barbara.

I took the 'cliche' picture in the central Praca in Pelourinho

GO

According to this flickr picture (external link) the name of the church is something like church of the Lady of Rosario of the Black and the church is dedicated to Santa Barbara. My portugese is almost non exsistent but that is what I gathered from it. Or is that a different one?

That's the church on the right.

Pelourinho is acceptable; name of the church give bonus points.

Sorry for the confusion, I was looking for Pelourinho.

BTW Santa Barbara in the background; ...dos Negros on the right and Sao Francisco up the hill behind the camera.

Paul gets the next round

Now, rather than upset anyone, I'll leave it open as I'll be heading home from work, shortly and straight to bed........

Not to belabor things. The chuch names IS confusing because many have the "Official" name and a common name which every one uses.

You might have waited for me, you blokes. I had gone to bed and forgotten that I had guessed. The rules state that 12 hours is the maximum time between posting, before someone else steps in - which our friend Henk has taken advantage of more than once!

We waited for you - and filled the time in between - so now you are awake again it is open to you... :) (I am off to bed BTW).
