I sold my XTI a few weeks ago, hoping to replace it with a 1D classic. I havent had much luck on finding a 1D yet and also not sure if I really need the firewire cable for it too. Therefore, Im tired of waiting, wanting to find something soon. Im trying to decide between either a 20d, 10d, and maybe even the 60d. I like to shoot sports as much as possible, I think the 20D would be lil faster with that.. I want to stay with XXD series. Think the 1D would be great, but Im not sure if can afford to buy the firewire port for my computer and wire. I need some opinions and your comments.

i wasn't aware the 1d classic doesn't have a usb port, but regardless.. you can buy a cheap usb CF card reader for $10 so i don't think this should be a limiting factor for you.

Assuming you have a regular PC, a firewire card would be like $15 on ebay. So if you want the 1D, I would not let that stop you. Otherwise, at least go with the 20D for sports. The 10D has an older/slower AF system than your XTI did.

You should be able to get a port and wire for under $30 I would think. That's not much compared to the price of the 1D.

I thought I heard Canon was no longer doing work on the 1d. You could possibly find someone else to replace the shutter.

The shutter Boxes on both my 20D's were $204.00 US each at Canon in Cali.
They work on a flat rate for each item. never had to replace it on my 1D3 yet.

If you mean the original 1D, here are some used listings:

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

Thanks for all the responses guys. Yes stsva I do mean the original 1D. Ive seen the ones at keh.com. Im trying to save the money back up that I had to spend on other stuff. And I have been watching them on ebay quite extensively, too. Watched one go for as low as $389 while back. There is a hot air balloon rally coming up in my town and I am hoping to have one before then.
