I've posted pictures on here, try using the "Find more posts by" and you will find them.

There is a difference between OOF and motion blur and these are OOF.

Sorry but the only thing these would have seen is the trash.

I'd expect that from some of the Motorsport guys & Measurebaters here! :D Try to keep an open mind to other techniques as you go. For instance:
Show Us Your Slow Shutter Speed Shots

Slow shutter speeds are just another tool to carry in your bag.

I have a feeling some of the blur was intentional here.

True. Shooting blurs is fun & challenging, especially when I have to do it through holes in traffic. I'm never sure just what I'm going to get because the speeds vary from 2mph to about 40mph, so there's no way to zero in on a best shutter speed as you can with a car race where everyone is going through a corner at about the same speed.

And, since this is one of the best learning forums around, I'll post my "almost shots" along with the ones I really like. Stirring up some controversy is just another way to learn, no? ;)

So, thanks for the comments everyone!

Not a bad attempt at an insult there infact it was almost sarcasm. Sorry but I actually found that mildly amusing.

Don't worry I've had plenty of practice using slow shutter speeds, but the difference being is I actually get something in focus in the frame and even manage to get the whole of the subject in the frame, something I have notived you haven't quite mastered yet, perhaps another 40 years of practise and you may get there.

There is a large difference, as I have stated before, between motion blur in photographs and them being OOF, only one of the shots that have been posted have any sort of area that is in focus and that is the Mustang.

I'm never sure just what I'm going to get because the speeds vary from 2mph to about 40mph, so there's no way to zero in on a best shutter speed as you can with a car race where everyone is going through a corner at about the same speed.

That may be true when photographing a 'RACE' something I have never done and don't intend doing. If you're going to try and insult me at least do a bit of research.

So which one of the other seven levels would you put yourself?

OK, now it's looking like you're ignoring what was really said there & so focused on your own narrow viewpoint that you can't comprehend the written word. It was meant to be amusing, which is why the Smiley was included.
We have no problem with useful criticism here, but people with excess attitude don't last long, especially when their posts have the flavor of trolling. So I suggest that you calm down a bit & try to enjoy the forum as it's meant to be used.

I read through this entire post thinking.... " This guy is off the hook"
It is rediculous that you can dish out criticism but can't take any from other people.
Try a few of my DEF and motion tips......

Anyway, my point is, If you post pictures and get a reaction, listen to the reaction and follow some of your "tips" yourself. Don't strike at those that don't like your lack of focus, or intrest point in these pictures. Most people truely are just trying to help.

Been a while since I saw a total jackass on the boards...

One tip for cruises - especially with a fast lense at dusk - set Tv for the panning (1/100 to 1/15 depending on vehicle speed), Av for the isolated wide open shots. Go back and forth between the two modes depending on the type of shot you want. After dark, go to M and shoot wide open on everything, adjusting ISO and shutter speed.

Remote flash is fun after dark!

My favorite lense is the 70-200 2.8! Super fast AF and lots of mass to avoid movement.

listen to the reaction

It's not the reaction, but the attitude of the poster & way the reaction was presented? #4 of the Forum Rules of Use
I don't mind kidding around, but trolling for a reaction is another matter & Pekka won't put up with it. Neither will I, or any of the other Mods.

Remote flash is fun after dark!

I noticed that headlights at the intersections help out a bit, so I've been thinking of of kicking in a bit of 1/64 power flash after 9:30 PM. I'll try some tonight if I don't forget it. ;)

I like it too, but have been leaning more toward the 85mm f/1.8

Geeez! It was as busy out there tonight as it was on Saturday last year. At 9PM there were two lanes of traffic streching 100 yards back from the stop light! It totally ruined the angle that I wanted to shoot with Duggan's bar in the background. I'll have to make another plan for Tuesday.

Here's another Shell station "atmosphere" shot for you, Marie! I hope you like it.

:D

Gorgeous shots, thank you Frank

great atmosphere

and especially love the shot of the car , how the lady is grinning in #6
nice movement ..being a slower type car
lol

have to look again ........
hard to keep in ( the brain) lol all the beauties shown but suffice to say (for now) ..wonderful stuff

they all had a ball
I'd imagine they'll love to see the shots

no doubts it was difficult for you standing by/on the road taking the pictures

regards, Marie

Thanks, Marie!

no doubts it was difficult for you standing by/on the road taking the pictures

It only got worse from there. Last nights results were pathetic!
