Oddly enough, it seems my mkiii's SD card reader just died overnight. No matter what card I put in, it won't be recognized. This is not one of those "cannot format card" type failures, the camera doesn't see any sd card period. CF works fine, but recently I had a good deal on some nice 8gb cards, so I have 48gb worth of them. Anyone have any ideas/similar experience?

And yes, tried resetting the camera.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Are your cards all the same brand? did you try different brands? I've had one brand of SD that my camera could not recognize at all, but I don't remember which.

Otherwise, looks like it's a trip to Canon. :( At least you don't have to send it in to Canon Canada... you'd be hooped!

All are Sandisk, but all the cards work fine on every other (p&s) camera I have, in computer, etc. And it's Extreme III and Ultra II cards, so not even same make.

Camera is going in already for the second submirror fix+ sensor cleaning though, just wanted to see if anyone else had the problem and how much it cost them.
