I used to use my right eye to see through the viewfinder. In order to make it clear, I have to close my left eye

I tried on Left eye, actually, I can see the information in viewfinder clear without closing my right eye.

Is there a rule that we have to use right eye for viewfinder? Is it wrong to use left eye?

Sorry for the stupid question

right eye? lol

a fun fact speaking of this, is a lot of people actually use the wrong eye when using video cameras...just from the standpoint of where the eye-cup is positioned...they usually position it for use on the left eye, but then stick their right eye into it. lol

I know that it should have asked before....sorry to repeat the same question again

so it seems that there is no such rule and it is only personal preference

I know for me it's not even a preference--I just can't see the viewfinder properly with my right eye. It's like my brain won't allow it. ;)

no rule for this, just whatever works best for you :)

I'm right handed and do just about everything with the right, BUT I see better with my left eye (if I had to close one eye). Found that out when I was at the shooting range. Apparently it's a common thing that people have.

Here's how you find your dominant eye (but there's no rule that you have to use it).

1. Hold your hands together, flat--palms out at arm's length. Your fingertips should point up. You're basically making a wall and can see the back of your hands, like a woman checking her newly done nails.
2. Keep your fingers together and spread your palms so that you have a triangle. Link your thumbs.
3. Pick a target in that little triangle and look at it.
4. Now, close each eye. One will still be able to see it. The other won't. The eye that can see it is your dominant eye.
5. Decide if you really want to use that eye for photography or throw it away. ;)

I'm left-eyed.

Thank you. bw!

Left eye also. But you should try to keep the other eye open, as if you squint you will get tired sooner than you think. Wear any eye patch if you find that you can't work with both eyes open.

Use my right eye with the left eye shut, but after prolonged periods of shooting I open both eyes and the left is super burry. Makes for a interesting few minutes especially when moving around...haha
