I live in San Antonio, Tx. We haven't had rain in months here to where it's been Stage 3 water restrictions. And wouldn't you know it, we get nailed with rain lastnight and had a blanket of clouds surround us. I am extremely happy that we got rain but man what timing. So my question is, where there still be another meteor shower tonight? Thanks
Maybe... if you can get out to really dark, and possibly before the moon rises, you might see something. The shower is defined as occurring as long as the number of shooting stars is above the normal random rate (even if only by 1).
Technically the meteor shower is a month long, though most say a week on either side of peak (Tuesday). The drop off is fairly noticeable. I have seen a few in casual observation during the week before peak. So you have a chance. Expect rates closer to 10 per hour vs 60+ per hour.
Last night they were great, then all of a sudden at 3am, they were gone. I was seeing them at a rate of 40 - 60 per hour (guessing). Then around 3am, I only saw 1 in 15 minutes. Might have been a momentary dip, don't know I went home and went to bed.
