I bought a refurg G10 from Calumet and returned it due to a sensor issue. Not a problem because it was returnable. I would stay away from buying refurb stuff off ebay, etc. though.

Bought my second Canon refurb from Adorama the other week. This time it's the 40D. Love it! I always recommend this site to friends.

Helen, tell your team thanks for all the help!

I bought a Canon sealed refurbished 85L mk2 from Adorama, but turned out that it wouldn't stop down correctly. Despite the stated "90-day Adorama waranty", they would only accept a return (they did not have others) and would not repair / send back to Canon. Bummer, so I ordered a new one from another site. No knock on Adorama, as the lens was sealed, but within 5 minutes of opening the box, I knew something was off ;) I want to think that it was damaged during shipping and the Canon QC is not at fault, but it was solidly shipped.

If its a legit site with a decent return policy (at least), then I say why not, as long as you have the time to go back-and-forth (potentially). Having said that, I only ended up paying an extra $100 for new, on a $1900 lens (after finding a good deal at newegg), so it always has to be worth it, at least to me, especially as my lens had a 2007 date code.

Yes, it is. Thank you for picking it up - do you have the link to that one handy and I'll get it changed.

I'd be happy to buy a "Factory Refurbished" camera or lens, as for the warranty you know what it is at the point of sale, so you accept it or not.

Sadly, you were mis-informed. We do offer the option of repair - although most customers are less keen to go this route as it takes longer to arrange than an exchange.

I'd like to check out who advised you, so we can ensure all staff are up-to-date on all policies and procedues.

I appreciate that time has passed and you have already purchased one from another retailer, but if you have the chance to forward me the old order number, I'd be extremely grateful.

E-mail sent with info. As an update, my return to Adorama went very quickly. I ended up buying an 85L new from another site, simply because Adorama didn't have any more in stock. I've ordered from Adorama since and will continue to do so. As for Canon's rebates, I think I'd still prefer to buy new, although I have just had the one experience.

I just bought a Refurbished 50D from Adorama and should have it midweek, I cant wait to get it...in the past I have bought a refurbished XTI and a 70-300mm and have been satisfied with the quality of the refurbs since they are like new. Havent had any bad expierences with Adoram yet...I just wish they would open a West Coast store so i could go in person or atleast shipping wouldnt take so long....:p
