Well sorted, they are. Somehow you get the light to fall in the right place to make still lifes of found scenes.

Thanks OhLook. Most of my time spent away in self-imposed forum exile (if those are the right words ... and they probably aren't but I'm embracing my penchant for the dramatic) was spent pondering what to do with this power/skill ... besides photograph found scenes, of course. A question for the gone-but-not-forgotten 'Composition and Arty stuff' thread, perhaps.

I was changing trains, near Ypres in Flanders, Belgium. It was near the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month.
I was wearing a poppy. The local people were wearing poppies, and hearing an English voice they looked at mine. And eyes, for an instant, touched.
My mind drifted to images of the rolling killing fields, the shell blasts and smoke, the trees with branches blown off, the mud.

Then my gaze found the image, in oilstains and peeling paint, right in front of me:
