i have been happy with my bogen 468MGRC2 head for quite some time and have RC2 plates attached to the body and several large-ish lenses.

i'm considering getting a 303SPH head. problem is, it uses the 357PLV plate.

i would prefer to leave my non-pano setup as is, but also don't want to have to change plate (on the camera) when i use the 303SPH. is there some sort of 357PLV to RC2 adapter?

i know i can also just get a 468MGRC3 which uses 357PLV which means i'll just abandon RC2 altogether. but that's probably another $300 with the new head and additional plates.

any suggestions?

thanks!

How often do you anticipate doing panoramics?

The 357PLV plate is not something I would leave on ANY EOS camera or lens. It is HUGE and is really a special-purpose item designed for video cameras.

skip: i think you are absolutely right. the more i think about it, the more i'm leaning with just having to live with switching plates for the occasional panos for now... unless, there is an adapter that'll let me clip an RC2 plate onto the 303SPH head, which, so far, i have not found.

thanks!

There is such an adapter. It's the Manfrotto 323 Rapid Connector Adapter (external link). Whether or not there's room for it is the only question I would be needing an answer for.

One nice thing is that you get another QR plate with the adapter.

Just to follow up on this.. Skip, you are spot on about the 323 RC Adapter as it's been done here (external link). (323 used to be known as 3299 as in the linked post).

again, thanks!
