Hi guys,

So I'm not sure what I should do. So far I have shot mostly outdoors and am somewhat familiar with flash photography. Recently, a friend asked me to take some photos of her local business for her website and I don't know what kind of setup to use. I was thinking of going with a 430ex II but I don't know what else to buy in terms of stands, brackets, umbrellas etc. Any suggestions on what I should get?

What kind of pictures will you be taking? Portraits, products, buildings?

Mostly portraits, I think my friend wants candid "around the office" kind of stuff -the office is pretty small and there's a big window in front that lets a lot of light.

honestly, for what you're talking about, I would look at one of these kits before going with something like a 430ex

Do some reading here and I think you might agree:

Awww man, Shooter McGavin! You already recommended my usual regimen for newbies; Mpex.com's strobist kits and the strobist website!;):D

thanks for the advice. I like the idea of not spending 300 bucks on just a flash!

I looked around and I think I might get this one: https://www.gadgetinfinity.com …ctid=17028&cat=298&page=1 (external link)

This might be a stupid question but what's the difference between a 430ex and a full manual flash such as a vivitar 285?
