Thought I'd post these shots of a loving pair of African Penguins (related to Magellanic and Humboldt penguins). Shots taken in Jan 09 at Boulders Beach (external link), South Africa (near Cape Town).

Hope you like :)

Nice opportunity. I guess they are more agile than they look, if they can climb rocks. :)

Thanks for the lovely comments everyone !

@ Canonloader, they appeared in the most surprising of places on this beach. Quite a few had managed to get inside a fenced off area where I couldn't really see a way in, and on the beach which is accessible to a limited number of people (for swimming, sunbathing, etc) and shared with the penguins they were all over the large boulders. Maybe they just act to be useless but are in fact masters of deception ;)

Were they approachable, not scared of people?

On that particular beach, yes they were approachable. Hence they limited access for people to about 50 - 100 (I can't remember the exact number) with strict guidelines on what you're allowed to do once on the beach. Where I took the shots above, everyone was on raised decking/walkway with no direct access to the penguins, so they were oblivious to us.
