My neice has a really pretty eye color, but I have not been able to capture it. What would you suggest for PP to make her eyes stand out? They are a really nice blue/green. Thanks! :D

Do you have Photoshop? I don't believe there is a way in Lightroom.

Try raising the "luminance" of blue/aqua/green in Lightroom. That setting will respect skin tones as well so she doesn't end up so blush. Also, it looks like you could touch up some yellow that seems to be in the center of her eye for color contrast.

Otherwise, its off to PS for you.

I literally just uploaded CS3 Extended.

Now to figure out how to use it

Thanks for the feedback, I'll do what I can in Lightroom in the meantime.

I don't have LR, but I'm thinking you could do this with the local adjustment brush. Apply USM with a low amount (20-30%) and set the radius to a higher amount (50-80) and then just apply it to the iris with the local adjustment brush.

Yea. You can do this in Lightroom. I do it all the time. And it's fast and easy.

Here's a quick and awkward video on how to do it.

Obviously you are more limited in Lr vs Ps. But, it works just fine.

Also, not covered in the video... You can sharpen the eyes at the same time. Along with a few other options in there like saturation, brightness, clarity, etc. Just tweak with it until you're happy with it.

Hope that helps.

Strongly contrasted black and white would work great - I will have a crack at this when I get home tonight.

Since I've never gotten critique on an edit I've done, what do you think of this? I've always wondered if I've been overdoing it all this time.

What I did - Cleaned up the skin a bit using heal tools, a little skin softening using median noise reduction and tried to soften her sunburn using color adjustments on the blur layer, adjusted white balance, brightened her eyes using a screen layer (added contrast to the screen layer), sharpened her eyes and an overall sharpening.

Wow! Very Nice. Thanks for sharing your techniques.

I do not have PhotoShop so I used my old Print Shop 20 and lightened the photo after running it through Neat Image noise reduction to smooth the skin a little. Then one click of contrast, one click of sharpening and one click of saturation (I think all those clicks are right?) Adding light did a lot to bring the eyes out. keep shooting and post more.
