i'd re-shoot this, taking care not to crop the wings and go with a slightly more dramatic angle (down facing up, camera tilted to one side slightly.). you could soften up the shadows with a white reflector, but maybe the dramatic lighting is better (hard to tell without doing both I guess). cool subject choice.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I like the camera angle suggestions. With respect to the lighting, I could easily change it since the original was shot in bright open shade and the strong contrast was added during post processing. I appreciate the comment about the tight cropping that cut off part of the wing and perhaps should have been either wider or tighter on the face.
