I'm about to pull the trigger on a 5DMkII tomorrow. I'm currently shooting a 50D. Besides the HD Video should I really expect much difference. The LCD size is going to be the same, the FF sensor is going to make all my lenses shorter :), I'm expecting the 5DMkII high ISO to be better because of the larger sensor, but how much better.

I guess what I'm asking is I noticed a HUGE difference between my Rebel XT and the 50D. Should I expect the same leap with the 5DMkII or is going to be more incremental?

It's a lot of money and I am having pre-buyers remorse. Reassure me. :)

Only you can make the decision as to which camera will be worth it. Maybe you should just keep the 50D for a while longer and keep shooting. There really aren't any bad Canon DSLR's on the market right now. They will each produce excellent images, and maybe you are getting hung up too much on bells and whistles vs actually taking pictures. Just my humble opinion...

There is a little of that. Part of is a timing issue.

The 5DMkII has been on my wish list since it came out, I decided I would get the 50D wait a year then upgrade. I've been saving up for it and was planning on getting one before the end of the year. I know it's not going to magically take better photos than what I currently have. But it will improve some of the fringe areas like low-light. I also think the video is really cool.

The time pressure is a result of a 1-day employee sale where I can buy the camera at cost. The margins are fairly small on camera bodies so it's not a huge savings, but since I've planning on getting one eventually it's giving me that little push.

You have a good lens lineup for it. Sell the 50 and pick up an 85 1.8. The 17-55 plus a little cash can get you a 16-35II or maybe a straight trade for a 17-40.

Losing the 17-55 would be my only personal issue with it. I love that lens! The video is a nice feature to have. Some people might scoff at it but I think it a really nice. Maybe not for the professional, but definitely the enthusiast.

I just made the same upgrade, and I noticed a huge leap from the 50D to the 5Dmk2. The iso performance blew me away... in instances when the 50D auto iso would pick iso 400, the 5Dmk2 will pick iso 100.

If you are used to the high fps of the 50D, then the 5D will feel noticeably slower, but the 5D isn't a sports camera anyway.
