I am completely new to HDR, but decided to try out the trial version of Photomatix by duplicating some old pics (single exposures) on iPhoto. I know most of them are unfinished work, but I still have little idea of where I am going other than moving the sliders around.

Definitely not getting that dreamy effect I see from the more experienced among you, but I will plod away.

I happen to like number 3 - only because the clouds remind me of the opening titles of The Simpsons :D

Stone bridge: Saturation is far too much. You have blown-out reds.

Old city: Very good. I like this quite a bit. But the left edge of the building on the left is perfectly straight, but the building on the right leans to the right. Consider skewing the image (if you have software that can skew, like Photoshop) - leave the left edge as-is, but lean the right side of the image in towards the middle. Also, try to lighten up the front of the building on the right side of the image - it's a bit too dark.

First Statue of Liberty: Tone down the saturation and this would be freaking awesome!

Second SoL: Too much saturation, no detail in clouds. Does nothing for me.

Skyline: Awesome! Can't say anything else.

Butterfly: Red is blown, white is blown, dark parts of the butterfly are too dark.

Bug: Very good.

You can take my 100-400 L away when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.

2, 5, & 7 for me. Nice work, but I'd pull that orange color down. It is considerably over saturated in that color.

Great shot of the cricket. Do you happen to know what the 'red dot' is about?
