I just downloaded a free trial of this and played with it for the first time. (for those that may not know it allows you to create any image size without loss of quality) I was quite impressed!:) I dont know if it would ever be really useful for me, but it was definatelty pretty cool. However, I did learn two things about running the program.
1. You need a good computer. Dual core takes forever to load.
2. It seems to have to go through every layer you have open, so if you have a bunch of layers open than its gonna take a while.

Many years ago I bought GF and, to be honest, could see little difference between using that and the bicubic resizer in whatever editing program I used back then. That was three computers ago - never bothered installing it on any of the new ones.

But - hey! If you can see $200 worth of difference then it's worth buying.

I couldn't see any difference between GF and CS4 using bicubic smoother when I tried it a few months ago.

You need to make massive enlargements to see the value. Taking a 600x800 file to 1800x2400, they will both look similar. Taking a 1800x2400 file to 5400x7200 and larger, you do see the value.

I changed the 50d file size from 13"X19" to 33"X50" and thought that it looked pretty impressive.

Use a spline64 or sinc/windowed sinc resizer if you really need quality. Older versions of the program made it look like a watercolor at 100%, and while the new ones have improved it, it's still better just to use something else if you want quality.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

I took this shot. re sized it to share on the web but some where along the way I deleted the RAW file.

So I saved the jpeg off my flickr account and cropped off the border, then I ran it through GF 6pro and re sized it to the original 10mp size. Man I was so happy I had a full size image again. I mean the color version is gone for good but at least I have the B&W conversion available to print large prints if needed. I re sized from a long edge of 1024. GF works. I still have yet to do a 100% crop down of an image. I heard it does wonders for that as well.

Ditto, ditto. Still have GF 5. Recently, went back to PS. Can't see a difference. Been tested on images from cameras ranging from a 20D to 5D MKII. No diff. Photoshop bicubic resampler to downres, bicubic smoother to uprez does the job.

Save your money in a jar for a good lens!
