Here are a couple of shots of the Merddin Emrysat a station in the Ffestiniog Railway from a quick visit to Wales over the weekend. I wasn't out looking for trains that day but was at the station picking up a time table when it rolled in :-)

Wonderfully, well shot rail images. They look like LF postcards.

Thanks for looking. I got lucky with the light and the timing of the trains arrival. I just love these trains :)

Here's another that should the full engine (tender?). It's a kind of "push me, pull you" train - but I guess there is a technical term for that :) Where's Stuart when you need him!

It's a Fairlie locomotive, the Ffestioniog operate several, a new one was built in 1991 named David Lloyd George (Famous Politician - Welsh)

Its a Doulle Fairlie with articulated bogies that allow you to build a much more powerful engine that can still negotiate the very tight curves of the Ffestiniog and other Narrow Gauge lines throughout the world

Actually, it's the Merddin Emrys as I mentioned in my OP.

"Itwas built in the railways own workshops at Boston Lodge and was completed in 1879. Merddin has been one of the FR's mainstays for more than a century, and has changed shape with successive rebuilds, major overhauls / rebuilds being undertaken in 1895, 1921, 1934, 1961, 1970, 1988 and 2005. The 1988 overhaul was externally sponsored and featured serious efforts to return the engine to something close to its original appearance."

That makes a lot of sense - thanks for commenting.
