This very early morning checking up on my little pond to make sure it had water in it (we've had a very hot couple of days here in NY), I found these two having a little breakfast together. Any idea what they are?

Looks a little like a Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene c. carolina) to me. But maybe someone has an exact match if not.

And for the two that you could see the eye color on.... they are males. Females typically have brown eyes. Beautiful critters!

Weird, I'm just looking at my own photo and realize that the grass in front is sharp, the grass in the back is sharp but his head is a little soft. How could that be? Do they shimmer?
