We'll I'm migrating over to strobes and I'm wondering if I can fire the strobes like alien bees or something with a optical slave built in with an on camera canon flash.

rakoczyphoto Hatchling 5 posts Joined Feb 2010 Location: CT More info | You can use the Canon 580EX2 in Manual to avoid the pre-flash and thus emit just one flash at the time of exposure, which can then trigger other flashes / strobes. However, I haven't been able to get the 580EX2 to respond in manual mode to another non-580EX2, non-ETTL strobe like a normal "dumb" optical slave would. Rakoczy Photography
