This adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird has stayed with us for a few weeks. He spends much of his time chasing the other hummers away. He's been the "boss" since he has been here. Thanks for looking. :)

Nice shots Brad... at least your hummers don't have as far to migrate as mine... I have a feeder full at the moment, getting "gassed up" for the long trip.

Nice shots. He looks like a toughy, maybe ready to take on your lens. :)

Great shots.
I set up a hummingbird feeder, but have yet to see one.
Any tips, feeding times?
Thanks

Thanks for the comments db. I've noticed that we have been getting different hummers lately. Maybe some migrating through.

Thanks jim. This little guy just sits at his guard post waiting for another hummer to chase off.

They will show up in time. We set our feeder up in the spring or when we see the first hummingbird. The hummingbirds are here from sun-up to sun-down. Just keep the feeder clean and refill when it's low.

Two excellent images showing what happens when the sun lights up his throat...hence the name.
