and Jacobsen, the Sigma 12-24 accepts 82mm filters from 16mm+ :)

Also someone has a Cokin filter holder working on one from 12mm with no problems :)

yeah, ME!

I'd argue that, Nikon offers what most people want in a 7D in the D700 which is only about $2700 new...

The D700 is $2359 right now at B&H (you have to add it to your cart). Plus if you use bing cashback you can get it down even further.... My issue is I think the current bing cashback is being doubled through 8/31, but the damn canon announcement is 9/1, so I lose that if I wait. It's almost worth ordering one 8/31 and not opening it until I know....

Sorry. 1ds is superior to 5d2, not D700.

Sorry that I'm not familiar with Nikon either. I'm already used to the Canon menus and switching platforms is not for me. Would have been no different if I would have started with the Nikon D40.

So, is it safe to say what keeps Canon shooters with Canon is the lens lineup? If Nikon could better match our lens lineup, many people would jump ship.

The problem with the Nikon line up is their lenses. All their really interesting lenses are just so old and antequated. They make a great body though....if a little low in resolution these days. Great camera AF system, let down by an ancient slow screw drive system in most of their lenses. Even Sigma makes more HSM equipped lenses than Nikon does....go figure!

Guilty Pleasure here as well...

It is interesting to read how folks justify/defend which format it might be.

The scary thing is, they all make sense. Canon might just suprise us all...

I'll second all of that. ;)

The only thing that will really surprise (and please me) is if this is another FF camera.

FF, 5D size, 12-15mp, 5-6 fps, improved AF at off-center points - I'd be in Canon heaven, but I'm afraid that's the only place that such a camera will exist.

Can I join you in that heaven?
I'll bring ladies to shoot yes?

If a 7D is a "xxD" in FF with above average AF, I'll be placing my pre-order on announcement. I just don't see it happening
