I don't want to create a new thread to ask these questions, so hopefully someone will have some insight based on previous Canon cameras.

Essentially, what's the best way to get your hands on one? What stores get the most supplies? Are you better off ordering a kit or body only? And how long until reviews start to materialize? Etc.

I walked into my local camera store this morning and asked, they didn't have it in their system but he took my name and number down and said he'd call me when it was in their system and place an order for me. I don't foresee this camera suffering the same fate the 5DMk2 did because most media outlets went with the 5D for the full frame video recording (the FIA Media Team is using them exclusively this year to capture Formula 1 footage) whereas this has a more niche sports/action market. Time will tell but my guess is that these will be readily available and I'd be willing to bet you'll see some media folks picking them up for the olympics in 2010.

I bet a a couple thousand users at this forum go through the exact same agony every time Canon announces a new camera that does one or many things better than the camera they just purchased. Okay, maybe they don't curse in German or have a mustache, but otherwise it's the same.

That video has been applied to at least four (maybe more) camera releases and at least one of them was for a Nikon.

Yes, and not only camera releases. Still tends to make me laugh each time, though. :D

I still laugh at the Downfall subtitle videos. It's going to be hard to watch the actual movie and not laugh during that scene.

I'm looking forward to cracking my piggy bank open for the 7d... It's going to be a huge improvement over my old 10d. Built in flash control... mmm.

I wonder if the improved sensor processing will reduce the jello effect in videos.

Their media outlet, I believe DVD's and promotional material they have been using 5DMk2's to record footage. I've seen them attached to some pretty nice rigs at a few of the races I've watched and someone posted a few shots from races where they saw some FIA Media people with 5DMk2's recording (one was a shot of a 5DMk2 attached to a crane rig above a turn.. rather interesting looking).
